Elaine Briggs is the founder of Cosi Textiles. A former Fashion Director and Creative Director, working for international publications such as Italian Vogue, British Vogue Brides, The Observer, The Times Magazine and The Sunday Times magazine. Advertising clients included Barbour, BBC, EMI Classics, Marks & Spencer, David Jones, Country Road, HSBC and Nestle, as well as celebrities such as Sir Simon Rattle, Joanna Lumley, Cecilia Bartoli and Kate Bush.
Following 8 years in Sydney as Fashion Advertising Manager of David Jones, Fashion Director of She magazine and freelance Creative Director for Country Road, Robert Burton, Carla Zampatti, Trent Nathan and others, the family moved to Singapore in 1996. On a visit to Burma, Elaine decided to set up a sideline ethical jewellery company designing jade jewellery, helping a number of Burmese families living in difficult conditions in Rangoon. After returning to live in London as Fashion Director of British Vogue Brides, Yoma continued and after showing in Paris, Yoma sold to Liberty, Harrods, GTC and Erickson Beamon in London as well as numerous European clients. Yoma press included Italian Vogue, The Sunday Times and Financial Times, while clients included Annie Lennox, Elle Macpherson and the Duchess of York. Sadly due to Cyclone Nargis, Yoma was forced to close.
Elaine has always had close ties with the Tibetan people and has been practising Tibetan Buddhism since she met HH Dalai Lama in 1989. Seeking a way of combining her skills and values in a meaningful and mindful business, Elaine developed the idea for Cosi and launched at Paris Fashion Week in October 2009.
Elaine is the Creative Director for Cosi.
